Tue, 18 Nov 2008 22:32:15 PST- The faith Texas Football places in Mack Brown to maintain a winning program was underscored on Nov. 18 when athletic director DeLoss Dodds designated defensive coordinator Will Muschamp as the Longhorns' next coach.
No, Brown, 57, has no desire to retire. He still has eight years on his contract and said he plans to fulfill that obligation.
Texas Football simply wanted to tie Muschamp, one of the rising young assistants in the profession, to a long-term deal. Apparently, Muschamp, 37, was agreeable to the unusual arrangement, in no small part because his salary will be bumped to $900,000 beginning next year. Janzen Jackson, Scout.com four-star cornerback from Lake Charles-Barbe, (La.), committed to LSU back in February. Several months have passed, and all schools who offered backed away with the exception of one. Janzen talked about visits to Baton Rouge and if another visit is on the horizon.
